- Drugs/medications
- Other disorders (OCD)
Risk factors
- Early adulthood
- Women
- Major life stress
- A traumatic event
- Smoking
- Too much caffeine intake
- History of abuse
Complications
- Development of specific phobias
- Problems at work or school
- Depression, anxiety disorders
- Alcohol or other substance abuse
Nursing Interventions
- Stay calm and be nonthreatening
- Assure patient safety
- Decrease stimulation
- Administer medications (SSRIs, SNRIs, Benzodiazepines)
- Consult for psychotherapy
